How it works

Two roles, one shared clock

One person drives the timecode. Everyone else follows — in real time, on any device.

01

Operator

Connects a MIDI interface to receive MTC from the show system — Reaper, Ableton, QLab or any DAW. Manages shows, imports cue lists from Reaper as CSV, and pushes the live state to the server every 500ms.

02

Viewer

Opens Timecode on any phone, tablet or laptop. Synced every 500ms. Between updates, the device's own clock keeps the countdown running smoothly — no stuttering, even on 5G or a weak WiFi signal.

Signal flow

From MIDI to every screen

01

Show starts

DAW begins playback and sends MTC over MIDI to the operator's laptop.

02

Browser decodes

Cuer reads MIDI via Web MIDI API and decodes each timecode frame in real time.

03

Server sync

Current TC is pushed to the Cuer API every 500ms — fully isolated per company.

04

All screens update

Every viewer polls the API and ticks locally — a perfectly smooth display anywhere.

Features

Built for the live environment

Frameless countdown

MM:SS only — no frame numbers. Cleaner to read under pressure. Works without stuttering over mobile networks.

📡

Local interpolation

Between syncs, the device's own clock keeps ticking. No freezing, no jumping — even when the signal drops for a second.

🎯

RTT compensation

Round-trip time is measured every request and subtracted from the offset. Your phone matches the MIDI desk precisely.

📋

CSV import from Reaper

Export markers and regions from Reaper SWS. Drop the file into Cuer — all cues appear instantly with timing and region boundaries.

🌊

Region view

Inside a Reaper region the display shows elapsed / remaining time for that region, plus upcoming markers within it.

⚠️

Colour-coded urgency

Countdown turns orange under 30 seconds, red and pulsing under 10. Impossible to miss, even on a bright stage.

CSV Import

Import directly from Reaper

Use the Reaper SWS extension to export your markers and regions as CSV. Drop it into Cuer Timecode and every cue appears immediately — including region start/end times.

Three steps

Step 1
In Reaper: Extensions → SWS/S&M → Export markers/regions to CSV
Step 2
In Cuer Timecode: click Shows → CSV next to your show
Step 3
Select the .csv file — markers load instantly
✓ All viewers see the updated cue list immediately

Ready to sync your crew?

Timecode is included in all Cuer plans. Operators need Chrome or Edge for MIDI. Viewers work on any browser, any device.
